This striking bronze sculpture by Joanny Durand, titled "Flamenco Dancer", captures a dancer in motion with remarkable intensity and elegance. Executed using the lost wax method by Frédéric Carvillani in the early 20th century (circa 1907–1925), the work exemplifies the fluid expressiveness typical of the Art Nouveau period.

The dancer’s posture is full of dynamism: one arm raised gracefully overhead, her body twisting with the rhythm of the dance, and her flowing dress captured in a swirl of movement. The textured treatment of the fabric, paired with the naturalistic yet stylised rendering of the figure, reflects the artist’s deep sensitivity to form and rhythm.

The brown-green patina accentuates the sculptural depth, while soft highlights evoke the sensual and dramatic energy of the flamenco dance. Mounted on a dark marble base, the piece gains a sense of monumentality, despite its relatively intimate dimensions.

The sculpture is a vibrant celebration of movement and emotion – a tribute to the flamenco spirit, as seen through the poetic and powerful lens of Joanny Durand.
