Jean Grimal (1942–1998) was a French painter renowned for his exquisite still life compositions that masterfully blend classical techniques with a modern sensibility. Born in Tulle, France, in 1942, Grimal demonstrated exceptional talent in drawing and painting from an early age. He received a classical education and was recognized for his artistic abilities during his school years.

Grimal began his professional career as a teacher and advertising illustrator. For over 25 years, he collaborated with the Lise Goldfard Advertising Agency at Studio 44, working on major accounts such as Air France, Christofle, Peugeot, and Lacoste. Despite his success in the commercial art world, Grimal's passion for fine art led him to present his formal paintings in galleries across Paris, Cannes, London, and Windsor. His works quickly garnered attention from prominent art galleries and collectors throughout Europe.

Eventually, Grimal chose to dedicate himself entirely to classical painting. His still lifes are celebrated for their meticulous detail, masterful use of chiaroscuro, and the ability to capture the subtle nuances of everyday objects.
